The author deals with the knowledge acquisition process as a capacity to select, critically, the information that circulates in the society, and highlights the context of the society globalized by the logic of the tardy and multinational capitalism, one that deepens the socioeconomic inequalities there are between people from different culture even more and which has ideology as an ally in order to transform a particular point-of-view into a rule for the entire society. The author also emphasizes the role the media has as mediator between man an reality and, once again, the importance of selecting, with a critical look, what it is they transform into reality, since spectacle and standardization are important parts of the mercantile logic in order to circulate cultural goods in the capitalistic society. School is presented as an institution, which, after receiving a new meaning, can have a fundamental role in forming new generations for the transformation and creation of citizens who are capable of unveiling the ideologies that circulate in the media..
