This paper analyzes censorship by focusing recent happenings in Brazil and abroad, compelling us to think on the dynamics of censorship established by the government. Based on the research that takes place on the Archive Miroel Silveira, of the Escola de Comunicações e Artes of Universidade de São Paulo, the author shows how previous censorship to theater plays was made in the Sao Paulo State between 1930 and 1970. She defends the idea that only education can guarantee the audience protection and the fight against abuses in art and communication.
