Abstract

This article approaches the challenges brought by today’s fragmented society, structured as a result of social processes
developed from the Second World War, and the role of communication within this society. It approaches the several stages of modernity and how societies –specially the Mediterranean ones – should seek for their identity to face the world in which we live in.
