The author deals with the importance of pedagogical work using printed press. Emphasis is given to the dynamics and to the interaction the newspaper allows there to be between the student and current affairs. It also stresses that this work cannot be carried out in naïvely, giving the same consideration to the newspaper as is given to textbooks. Teachers must be aware of the processes involved in fact editing and that, as is the case with school books, each newspaper transmits its own point of view on reality. The author also claims this is the most important work the teacher can do: act as a cultural mediator between his/her students’ desires and the complexity of social facts.
