Abstract

The Brazilian Network of Collections and University Museums appeared in April 2017, based on the need for articulation among students, professors, researchers and professionals who work in Brazilian university museums. Its main objective is the preservation and dissemination of university museological collections. The Network operates daily through an e-mail group and occasionally organizes parallel reunions within academic meetings in the field of museology in different regions of Brazil. After the tragic fire at the UFRJ National Museum and the publication of Act 850/18, which proposes the end of the Brazilian Institute of Museums, the Network has become an important channel for articulation and manifestation among different professionals and researchers involved in the preservation and promotion of university museological heritage. The present work reports and points out the importance of cooperation networks as important strategic and operational instruments to fight for the continuous and perennial process characteristic of the preservation and promotion of university museological patrimony.
