Abstract

This article aims to present the development of the extinct sector of IPHAN, in the state of Minas Gerais, “work of art’s restoration”. It also aims to present the formation of the restaurateurs who were the heads of the restoration works in Minas Gerais, as proposed by the institution under Edson Motta’s orientation, the main leader of the sector. In this way, the article will cover how it was organized and structured during the time that Edson Motta was ahead of it (1946 to 1976), so it can be discussed how the ramification of “Edson Motta’s School” of restoration can be observed in the “SPHAN academy” on the segment of movable and integrated cultural goods.
