Peer Review Process

This journal adopts a double-blind review model. Articles are initially evaluated by the Editorial Committee, which decides whether to forward the manuscripts to reviewers for assessment, provided they meet the editorial criteria adopted by the journal. The reviews are then considered by the editors, and in cases of disagreement or conflict between the reviewers' assessments, a third review is requested from another specialist.

Publication Ethics Policy

Principles

The Revista CPC is guided by ethical principles respecting academic culture and intellectual production, considering all parties involved in the editorial process (authors, editors, and reviewers), and rejects any type of conflict of interest. This is based on the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)  and the Diretrizes do CSE para Promover Integridade em Publicações de Periódicos Científicos 2012 (ABEC Brazil). Any requests for corrections, revisions, clarifications, or retractions will be reviewed by the Editorial Board for appropriate action.

Anti-Plagiarism Measures

The Revista CPC publishes original and unpublished works, that is, works that have neither been published nor are under submission in other journals or electronic platforms, according to the Condições para submissão — authors must comply with this requirement. It is also the authors' responsibility to ensure that all sources and references included in the manuscript are clearly stated. The editors adopt measures to identify and prevent the publication of academic works associated with plagiarism through comparisons with other electronic publications and through the reviewers’ evaluations. Revista CPC uses Similarity Check CrossRef iThenticate, designed for professional use by academic and scientific content publishers. This tool allows the identification of the similarity index of texts submitted for publication in relation to the database formed by the catalogs of publishers affiliated with CrossRef and participants in this service.

Artificial Intelligence Use Policy

Based on the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Revista CPC clarifies its criteria regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence tools and Large Language Models.

Respecting conventional authorship criteria, no artificial intelligence tools (chatbots, ChatGPT, or other similar technologies) should be used in generating the text that forms the structure of an article to be submitted to the Revista CPC, whether it is a specific excerpt or the entire text.

If an artificial intelligence tool is used for data collection, creation of graphs, database analysis, or other functions related to supporting and systematizing elements that contributed to the production of the article, the authors must be transparent about its purpose in the presented work, as well as specify which tool was used and provide additional information about its application in the article’s production.

Regarding the use of these tools for functions other than the actual production of the article's text, such as images and graphic elements: authors must be transparent when disclosing this use, both in the abstract and in the methodology section of the main text, specifying the type of tool used, the role it played, and how its application occurred (including the specifics of the tool used, the results generated during its use, and the date of interaction with the system).

Guidelines for the Editorial Team

It is the editors' responsibility to decide on the publication of manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s scope and policies; ethical principles and good practices in academic culture; and current legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism.

Factors related to political or ideological positions, ethnic, gender, or religious diversity, as well as differences in theoretical and methodological perspectives, should not influence actions and decisions made during the editorial process.

Editors will not handle the editorial process for manuscripts in which a conflict of interest is established.

Guidelines for authors

An author is understood to be anyone who has effectively participated in the conception of the study, the development, analysis and interpretation of the data, and the final drafting of the manuscript. People who participated in certain aspects of the research project should be listed as collaborators in the notes.

Authors must be aware of and agree to the submission conditions and the terms of the copyright declaration, as well as comply with the journal’s guidelines for manuscript submission.

Authors must ensure that the manuscripts are original, have not been submitted for review or published in any other venue, do not constitute any form of plagiarism, and comply with the ethical guidelines of academic production.

Guidelines for reviewers

Reviewers must decline the request to evaluate manuscripts in which there is a conflict of interest.

Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not appropriate or disclose any information contained therein in any context.

The identification of a lack of originality or any overlap of the manuscript, in whole or in part, with previously published texts must be promptly reported to the editors.

Reviewers must evaluate the manuscripts based solely on technical criteria. Factors related to political or ideological positions, ethnic, gender, or religious diversity, as well as differences in theoretical and methodological perspectives, must not influence the review process.

Reviews must be provided in an objective and constructive manner, based on valid academic or technical reasons, in order to help authors strengthen or improve the manuscript.

It is the reviewers’ responsibility to complete the review in a timely manner, adhering to the deadlines set by the editors, or to mutually agree with the journal on a new deadline by informing them of the need for an extension.

Editors will not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript except to the reviewers, maintaining the confidentiality of the submission.

Editors must keep the identities of authors and reviewers anonymous and treat manuscripts as confidential documents, while also ensuring transparency in the editorial process.

Editors will take appropriate action when ethical complaints concerning submitted manuscripts or published articles are presented, based on a formal and clearly identified complaint.
