Abstract

This poem is the result of an activity carried out on November 20, 2023. It is an excerpt from my anti-racist practices and the daily confrontations of an anti-racist educator teaching Afro-Latin American literature at the Federal University of Sergipe. The methodology used was based on critical listening to undergraduate students in the sixth period of Spanish-American literature IV, who were supposed to watch videos with Afro-centered songs and poems such as: Rincon Sapiência, Victoria Santa Cruz, Shirley Campbell Barr and Elza Soares to discuss November 20th as a date to value struggles and achievements to effectively celebrate Black Consciousness Day. The episode on screen was a discursive disaster, since a racist student did not do what was agreed and required by the teacher and brought a report from a Brazilian actress who discussed her late process of understanding herself as a black woman.  From this episode of structural racism. We changed the course plan of the subject and included readings such as Cida Bento, the narcissistic pact of Whiteness, colorism by Alessandra Devulsky and others.
