This article aims, based on the observation of the construction strategies of the novel Teoria geral do esquecimento, by José Eduardo Agualusa, to illuminate the relationships between literature and history, highlighting the connections between the consciousness of narrating, the importance of writing and the role of literature as a space for reflection. We emphasize the transformations that mark the lives of the characters and the impacts on the architecture of the building where the character lives, relating these changes to those that mark the transformation of Luanda.
