This article suggests a dialogue between the short story Lembras-te? by São Toméan writer Olinda Beja and the narrative crisis discussed by Walter Benjamin in The Storyteller (1987). It also establishes a relationship with the historical materialism of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels as presented in The German Ideology (2001).
