Abstract

THIS PAPER DEALS WITH THE SOCIOLOGICAL CONCEPT OF DIVERGENCE IN THE FIRST PLAY BY PLÍNIO MARCOS, BARRELA, WHICH TAKES PLACE IN A PRISON CELL IN WHICH THE CHARACTERS LIVE UNDER THE RULES OF AN INTERNAL CODE THAT CLEARLY REFLECTS THE ONE THAT BROUGHT THEM TO CONFINEMENT. INITIALLY, WE FOCUS ON THE POSSIBLE CONVERGENCES BETWEEN PLÍNIO AND NELSON RODRIGUES’ PLAY-WRITINGS FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THEMES AND LANGUAGE.
