Retórica e Memória em algumas estrofes d'Os Lusíadas

Abstract

On court Society, the epic poem had a conexion with the historiographic discourse. On this context, the plot of epic fiction was constructed about a great action of national history. So, the writer should reconfigure this event on the ficcional plot (Dispositio) and adorn the text with retoric resources (Elocutio). In this way, the memory of national events and of others great actions of the past constitute a kind of archive to which the author resort to find a ideal subject to her poem. This actions was a parameter to the reader evaluate the inventive hability of the poetry. Os Lusíadas, epic poem of Luís de Camões, presents a great exploitation of portuguese chronics and travel reports, constituting, according Hansen (2008), the phanteon where the ilustrious characthers who were the example to the courtier. This work analyze some stanzas of cantos III and V, using the concepto f memory. We use this definition to demosntrate who various passages acumulate references to diferente times. We demonstrate who the memory isn’t a framework of simbloics references, but a line, a creativity capacity who make feasible this amalgam of anachronistic images. By the end, we fought, through the Adamastor episode, about the forgetfulness during the renaissance.
