Abstract

It is not “by chance” that one can find literary echoes and resonances between the Livro do desassossego (1914), by Fernando Pessoa, and A Paixão segundo G.H., by Clarice Lispector, who published her book exactly sixty years after the Portuguese writer. Both authors, through their “lyric selves”, searched for a rupture of the usual concept of romance, destroying the plot, the unit among characters and the traditional aspect of the chronotope. This all to give life to the ontological thought, shared through the existential monologue, the desire to conquest a sense of otherness and to express the drama of the Being.
