Abstract

We seek, through our analysis, show how the relationship of writer Jose Saramago with the idealized space of fictional cities presented in his novels; place at various times to be confused with factual Lisbon and the place where the characters come to life and Saramago seek direction. Inflamed by a peaceful relationship with all that space, the Portuguese writer builds his city in a dialectical relation of love-hate, relationship we try to map here.
