Abstract

This research analyses the impact of pensions and social programs school attendance and supply in the labor market of young people aged 15 to 21 years. It was verified in households where retirees and/or pensioners live a reduction in the labor supply and an increase in school attendance of young people in urban areas. It was concluded that the impact of social programs, both in urban and rural areas, increases the chances of young people studying and working, and the average effect on those young people who are neither working nor studying (NEET) is smaller.
