Women and migration in Brazilian labor markets

The paper analyzes women participation in Brazilian migration flows after 2000 to understand whether the displacement is capable to minimize the adverse effects of sex and color segmentation in labor market. Wage equations are estimated, considering sample selection bias controls, using data from PNAD/IBGE (2002/2015). The results show that factors such as sex, color (race), migration status, household head, education and formal job have important impacts on wage returns. More specifically, sex and color segmentation in labor market are related to negative wage returns to migrant black and brown women.
