Abstract

This paper estimates the rate of return to education for two Brazilian regions that have strong socio-economic disparities: Northeast and Southeast. The period covers the years 2001-2006, characterized in literature by a sharp drop in income inequality in Brazil according to household surveys. Alternative forms of estimation of the OLS are presented. The evidence is that the return to schooling is still at high levels, despite the strong socio-economic disparities in the geographical areas and methodological ways of estimation.
