Abstract

Kamo no Chômei is not the only author who associates the flow of a river and the conception of ephemerality, but his Hôjôki is certainly one of the most expressive work concerning that theme. This article intends to propose a new reading of Hôjôki founded in the vision that the big narrative pole is the image of a river s flow.
