Abstract

Handsome，learned，courteous，refined, kind and always triumphant in his conquests，the ideal figure of the irogonomi, love’s-cultivator，has its great representative in Hikaru Genji, Genji Monogatari’s protagonist. Through the study of Heijü’s narrative，it is intended to show in this paper another aspect of love’s-cultivator, who do not always acchieve success in his conquests, and is a character generally found in the setsuwa genre.
