Duas visões da liberdade: a orientalização e a orientalidade

The article deals with the two processes of comercial space constitution that coexist in the Oriental District called Liberdade. The first one is related with the oriental immigrants historical formation in Liberdade; the second one is associated with the global market hegemonical logic. We call those processes orientalization and orientality, respectively. Commercial establishments forms of visuality in these two areas are analyzed, as well as the Thomaz Gonzaga Street, where Japanese restaurants gather in numbers, and also some projects of revitalization project of Liberdade District such as the Emperor Way, which started in 2008.##plugins.themes.default.displayStats.downloads##
