Abstract

This paper aims at raising a few of the characteristics proper to the authors/narrators of Tokugawa fiction in order to investigate their changes during the Meiji period. We intend to demonstrate that the main transformation consisted in the disappearance of the Tokugawa-style author and the emergence of a new narrative voice.
