The present article intends to analyze the historical background behind the beginning of Japanese pottery production in Brazil, specifically in São Paulo State,in the four decades after the end of the Second World War. This period was marked by important changes in the social, economic and cultural scope, which enabled the establishment of pottery production according to Japanese techniques and inspiration by companies, specialized technicians and artists. This paved the way for the emergence of a specialized market,as a consequence of the increasing demand for these products, in the first moment,by the Nikkei community and, after the 80’s,by non-Nikkei Brazilians.##plugins.themes.default.displayStats.downloads##
