O Tablete de Shamash: um estudo sobre o significado da imagem divina na Antiga Mesopotâmia

Este artigo visa provocar a discussão do conceito de imagem divina na Antiga Mesopotâmia, com base nos aspectos textuais, imagéticos e materiais presentes no tablete de Shamash, fonte narrativa que evoca desde o momento de desaparecimento da estátua de culto da deidade durante a invasão dos suteanos a cidade de Sippar em meados do XI A.E.C., até recuperação desta e produção de uma nova estátua, bem como a elaboração do tablete, no decorrer do IX A.E.C. Para tal objetivo optou-se por uma metodologia de abordagem interdisciplinar, abrangendo aspectos historiográficos, antropológicos e arqueológicos. Dentre eles, o desenvolvimento de conceitos-chave para a compreensão do tema, como as ṣalmu e os rituais de lavagem e abertura de boca, a imagem e texto presentes no tablete e possíveis interpretações e o período de sua produção. Por fim, buscou-se também investigar o objetivo para a elaboração do tablete, e sua importância para o reinado de Nabu-apla-iddina, assim como elucidar aspectos teóricos secundários para a compreensão do tema.
