O conceito de “história” na Historia Regum Britanniae de Geoffrey de Monmouth (século XII)

A História Regum Britanniae, escrita pelo monge Geoffrey de Monmouth no século XII, foi uma obra altamente popular na Idade Média. Até os dias de hoje há um questionamento se os acontecimentos narrados por Geoffrey são reais ou não, e para além disso, se a Historia Regum Britanniae pode ser considerada um trabalho historiográfico. No presente artigo, fazemos uso da história conceitual para entender o que Geoffrey entendia pelo conceito de “história”, e, com isso, verificar até que ponto a classificação da Historia Regum Britanniae como pseudo-história está fincada em significados modernos do termo, que não fazem jus às suas significações medievais.
