“Os lábios foram feitos carne pelas cores”: uma análise do conceito de ortodoxia na décima sétima homilia do patriarca Fócio de Constantinopla (867)

Após o Segundo Concílio de Niceia (787), as imagens foram restauradas em Bizâncio, mas a iconoclastia retornou sob o imperador Leão V, o Armênio (813–820). O culto às imagens foi definitivamente restabelecido em 843 pela imperatriz Teodora, no chamado Triunfo da Ortodoxia. Nesse contexto, o patriarca Fócio de Constantinopla proferiu uma homilia sobre a imagem da Theotókos na ábside da Hagía Sophía. Este artigo analisa, pela História Conceitual, como o conceito orthodoxía (ortodoxia) é mobilizado para legitimar não apenas a veneração das imagens, mas também para reforçar a posição imperial. Investigou-se também a articulação do conceito de ortodoxia com os conceitos eikṓn (imagem) e mímēsis (mímesis) no discurso teológico de Fócio.
