Abstract

This article aims to explain the theory of creation found in Descartes’ Meditations, of which consistently follows the theory of the creation of the eternal truths developed in his Correspondence, between the years 1630 and 1649. Doing so, we attempt to refute interpretations according to which the theory of the creation of the eternal truths would be incompatible with the Cartesian system. To this aim, we will present the thomistic concept of creation and the gradual Cartesian refutation of it, from where emerges a modern theory of creation, basis of the theory of the creation of eternal truths
