Abstract

This paper will review the concept of iconic solidarity and multiframe, developed by Groensteen, to offer a more comprehensive and systematic scope of what the author recognizes as necessary strategies of language mechanics of comics. Focusing on the multiframe concept, we will offer a semiotic approach through syncretism degrees (Hjelmslev) and tensive approach to the triaging and mixtures syntax (Zilberberg). By the analysis of Les Yeux du Chat (Moebius), we argue that the multi-frame becomes relevant in reading because of its uncompleted nature, promoting a plastic set that emphasizes the grouping of frames and pages as well as each frame and pages in its uniqueness. Following Zilberberg’s approaches, we conceive that such a process can be guided by implication or concession. Thus, we recognize, by repeating of the graphic motifs and their mode of occurrence that the promotion of multiframe in Les Yeux du Chat tends to implicative architecture of artistic discourse. Likewise, we can evaluate the development of the concessive multiframe. These results still summon the research to reflection of poetic modes of “parvenir” and “survenir” (Zilberberg), especially with regard to modes and temporalities of the reading.
