Abstract

The semiotic theory, proposed by Algirdas Julien Greimas, of French orientation, is inserted among theories that focus on to describe and explain how the senses of the texts are produced. In this sense, different scholars are developing works with the intention to get together such theory to teaching of Portuguese Language. The need to find another theoretical and methodological instrument to the teaching is related, mainly, to indicators as Prova Brasil (Brazil Test) and SAEB (Evaluation System of Basic Education) the ones that have been pointed as unfavorable indicators especially to the students reading competence who have taken part of these evaluations. Thus, our objective, in this work, is to suggest, by means of semiotic analyses of the lyrics Pais e Filhos (Parents and Kids), interpreted by Legião Urbana, a possible way to be followed in the reading of genre focused in this study. Our intention, whit such analyses, which shed lights in the discursive gerative way, it is to highlight questions related to the linguistic manifestations. Then, the emphasis is going to be about the choices released by the enunciator and the evocation of themes, which are recovered by the figurative organization. The process of teachers’ mediation in the text meaning construction is something essential, because of this, it is believed that the discussions about the lyrics letter could help the teacher to elect the subjects to be approached in the reading classes.
