This paperwork presents an analysis of vocal behavior in two different interpretations of the song called “Sonhos”, from the singer-songwriter Peninha. The first analysis was extracted from the recording performed by Peninha in 1977, which is the first record of the song. The second one was based on the interpretation performed by Caetano Veloso for a vinyl long play called “Cores, Nomes” from 1982. A preliminary analysis was done to identify links in the melody and lyrics as well, found in the internal nature of the song. For this matter, the theoretical reference used was “The Semiotics of Song”, a descriptive practice created by Luiz Tatit. Hereupon, a heedful listening of two phonograms was done and, an analysis of each interpretation was accomplished aiming to understand how the elucidation of the feelings inscribed in the song happens through each performer. In this purpose, it was employed the “Semiotic Analysis of Popular Song”, an analytical practice developed by Regina Machado hinged on studies about Musical Semiotics regarding the studies of voice elements.
