Abstract

The research from which this paper originates investigates, from communication practices, the acceleration of the processes that build socially childhood. Thus, this article aims to verify which childhoods arise from speeches that deny, in the MC Melody’s performance, a eight-years-old funk singer, a "child life". This paper will consider the comments made by Internet users about report on the TV show “Sunday Spectacular” (Rede Record) based on the following question: "can a child sing and dance funk?". Through the proposal of grounded theory, the analysis showed, among other things, that the criticism to Melody and his family, especially his father, are based on the modern conception of childhood.
