Effects of line meaning: semiosis of lines and garters

This paper analyzes from the point of view of Zilberberg’s tensive semiotics the effects of line meaning in the Garters Series canvases from visual artist Wesley Duke Lee’s work. Our purpose is to understand how the semiosis of the lines in the constitution of meaning takes place. The text was developed having as a base four plates from the Series in which we mainly observe the relationship between drawing and painting, as well as continuity and interruption of lines. The whole text is oriented by tonicity and atonicity, intensity and extensity on the canvases.
