This article examines, under the prism of the semiotics of the song by Luiz Tatit (1994; 1996; 1997), the lyrics and melody of three songs by Chico Buarque de Holanda: “Com açúcar, com afeto”, “Cotidiano” and “Sem açúcar”, to demonstrate that the song analyst must not only pay attention to the recessive or dominant presence of the melodic compatibilization processes in the song, but must also pay attention to the tensive effects that are established throughout the song from the co-presence of the three modes of integration, which sometimes act as an intensive element, sometimes as an extensive element, in an in/extensive globalizing adjustment that will give shape to the enunciative project of the songwriter.
