Abstract

This paper presents the results of a doctoral thesis developed between 2010 and 2015 about the political formation of the MST. The goal is to understand how historically develops the relationship and political relationship between the MST and the city, between rural and urban workers in the struggle for popular hegemony. This implies understanding the dialogic capacity of the MST, the provision and educational and communicative intent to political alliances and class with urban workers and their organizing bodies. The focus of this article is the level of struggle for hegemony /communication, based on the evolution of communication and political socialization between rural and urban workers since the creation of the Ligas Campesinas in 1955 until the Sixth National Congress of the MST, held in 2014. The research uses the dialectical method and apply qualitative techniques, semi-structured interviews with leaders and activists, and documentary research from editions of Jornal Sem Terra (JST).
