Abstract

Conquering and maintaining spaces to expose their agendas and instigate debates made invisible by traditional media has always been a challenge for the indigenous peoples of Brazil. The practice of indigenous ethnomedia, which has been growing in recent years, was the way found so that, through the appropriation of the means of communication, these populations could create communication networks that not only allowed their presence, but also allowed them to guarantee a leading role in denouncing non-compliance with rights, disseminating traditional knowledge and strengthening their ancestral values. In this conversation, Anápuàka Tupinambá, creator of the concept of indigenous ethnomedia and founder of Yandê Radio, tells his story and talks about the difficulties faced by indigenous peoples when communicating in the country.
