This article analyzes the role of the revolutionary councils in Hannah Arendt’s political reflections based on On Revolution. I intend to show that Arendt resorts to the councils not to sketch a model of a political system aiming to replace the representative model, but, rather, to denounce the restriction of participation in the current representative democracies based on the party system, to the detriment of both the exercise of political freedom and the development of a democratic culture.Downloads
