In the middle of 1762-63 Kant radically distinguishes between the synthetic procedure of mathematics and the analytical procedure of philosophy in the essay Investigation into the evidence of the principles of natural theology and morals. In this essay Kant gives himself a task: to present a philosophy/metaphysics that possesses a degree of certainty; even if not close to that of mathematics, at least, that can guarantee convincing assertions. Here we will present Kant's first attempt to distinguish the method of philosophy from that of mathematics. And the great contribution of the Inquiry is to propose for philosophy an analytical method based on methodological rules.
