Hamann's diatribe against the alleged dogmas of the Enlightenment represents a still pertinent warning against the illusions that can affect philosophical reflection, especially nowadays, when the algorithmic language typical of some segments of science is prone to bite increasingly larger slices of our imagination. At least is that what claims this essay by reconstructing Hamann's diatribes against one of his contemporaries and then giving them a new lease of life by bringing them into the context of contemporary discussions about the scope and role of reason in human life.
