This article proposes an analysis of the meaning of the project of a democratic socialism as formulated by Ruy Fausto, in a new cycle of publications starting in 2007. Departing from a critical and rigorous analysis of Marx's politics he rejects both adherence to the neoliberal order and traditional revolutionary solutions. The core of his proposal is a combination of a democratic political form with the control over production shared with workers. Despite its radical nature, this project seems to us hostage to a conventional conception of democracy that blocks its realization. It would be necessary not to deny democracy, but to broaden its meaning so that it is up to its power of transformation.
