O que é a PALAVRA? Reflexões sobre a herança gramatical greco-latina

In this paper we analyze the inherited ideas about what a Word is, in terms of linguistic description, following the greco-roman tradition. We analyze also some linguistic ideas of authors from XIX-XX century (Vendryès, Saussure) and we trace the way the first Portuguese grammars handled this question (João de Barros, Melo Bacelar, Lobato).
