The incidence of pain provokes a complex defensive behavior composed of motor components, of which limb flexion is the most important, and vegetative components (hemodinamic, ventilatory and metabolic adjustments). These components, in different levels of CNS control, and their implications on the choice of physiotherapical procedures are analyzed.
