Abstract

The objective of this study was to elaborate and to test a methodology of orientation on sitting position for children in early literacy, and to study the effect of posture adequacy on their performance during writing activities. For this purpose the methodology was applied to 30 children, 13 boys and 17 girls, aging between 6.4 and 7.1 years (average age 6.5). Inspite of our not having found connection between change in sitting posture and the children's performance during the activities, we considered satisfactory the results of the orientation program, in view of the new postural habits developed by the population in study. Replication of protocol will be necessary for any other conclusion as to performance during writing activities.
