This review aims to contribute to the understanding of issues related to the various fiber types that make up the skeletal muscle. Specifically, it focusses on aspects like the use of different terminology for muscle fiber classification, determinant factors to muscle fiber phenotypes, transition or conversion from one type to another and the inter-relation between muscle fiber change and muscle function alteration. Also commented are implications of fiber type changes to the physical therapy practice.Downloads
