Physical therapy in work, related musculoskeletal diseases: a report case

Epidemiological researches show that Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) or Work Related Musculoskeletal Diseases (WRMD) occupy the first place among occupational diseases. However, there are few researches about the physical therapy clinical approach in occupational health. The objective of this study is to report a RSI/WRMD case evolution only treated with physical therapy. The treatment lasted 19 sessions, and main resources used during it were: TENS, massage and kinesiotherapy. The patient's painful symptom and the functionality had a significant improvement after the 12 therapy, demonstrating that TENS were able to control the chronic pain. And the patient's symptom instability occurred during the treatment was related to work organizational factors, revealing that there is a multidisciplinary approach needed with intervention in the place work.
