This article aims to discuss how David Harvey incorporates the geographical element into his Marxist thinking, taking as a parameter the author’s first decade of Marxist production, the main synthesis of which is the publication of The Limits of Capital. The context of the turn of the 1970s has been analyzed, marked by significant political and cultural effervescence and a structural transformation in the dynamics of capitalist accumulation and its consequences in academia, with David Harvey's transition from neopositivism to Marxism being a milestone. This study concluded that David Harvey accessed Marxism from the urban problem. However, the author adds a geographical dimension to Marx’s theory of accumulation and the crises of capitalism and its unfolding in the historical geography of capitalism, guided by uneven geographical development. In this way, Harvey is included in the universe of authors who have sought to formulate a Marxist theory of Geography.
