The POE as part of the design process: reflections generated by two studies in a shopping center square

This paper presents part of the results of an activity carried out jointly by an ongoing research project and a course taught in a professional postgraduate program. Both were based on Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) and involved professors (of architectural design, environmental comfort, and graphic representation), undergraduate, and master's students. The text focuses on the POE of the food court at omitido during 2021.2 and 2022.2 (different phases of the Covid-19 pandemic) and its influence on schematic architectural proposals developed by the students. The multimethod approach used in the investigation included as-built surveys, walkthroughs, interviews, questionnaires, and measurements. Narrowing this arsenal of data, this paper is based on user opinions and behaviors, highlighting differences in how people perceive, occupy, and use the space and its relationship with current sanitary requirements. Reflecting the moment experienced and extrapolating the POE results, the architectural solutions developed translated users' perceptions into spatial responses to emerging issues.
