This work presents the synthesis of a master's degree dissertation about the design coordination. The case studies in two real estate development companies and in three building design offices made it possible to characterize the practices adopted for the design coordination, according to the alternatives used for its accomplishment. It were identified four alternatives, the design coordination accomplished interns or externally to the technical staff of the companies, the outsourced design coordination, besides the consultancy in coordination. In the academic middle the term consultancy was used to refer to the service of outsourced. The study of the companies allowed to distinguish the work of those two modalities of design coordination. In the coordination activities, the focus is on the coordination management, related to the planning and to the management of design process, and on the technical coordination, regarding the integration and the design development, all of them being promoted through the coordination meetings, the compatibilization and the critical analysis. Keywords: engineering design; building design; design coordination.Downloads
