The majority of Brazilian architects work with design (related to conception), building execution services and interior architecture. In general, these professionals commit, through the relationships with their clients, to the provision of services within pre-established deadlines, scopes and costs. In this sense, this research aims to investigate and understand the relationship between architects and their clients, focused on communication and considering the paths that lead to the success (or failures) of the provided service. The applied method combined with literature review, are multiple case studies that consist of nine case studies and a pilot case. The range of the research resides in the work of architectural professionals, who work with low complexity design, in small offices and in a direct relationship with their clients. As a result, it is concluded that the success in the management of these services does not depend only on a rigid control of rational parameters of its design and executive process, such as successes or failures of pre-established deadlines, scope and costs, but also on the compliance with subjective parameters idealized by the architect and their clients.
