Abstract

Research and research around the concept of Building Information Modeling (BIM) has intensified in recent years. However, its applicability in the Architecture, Engineering and Civil Construction (AEC) sector follows different scales, with particularities that must be considered. This work brings together relevant research related to the adoption and implementation of BIM in offices and companies in the AEC sector, the result of a bibliometric analysis of the literature published in the last decade (2010 to 2021). The objective was to raise information about the barriers and difficulties faced by these offices in adopting BIM, in a panorama divided into six main aspects: number of annual publications; countries with greater production and citations; occurrence of keywords and clusters; number of publications per periodical or event; most cited authors and authors with the highest number of publications in the Portfolio. The resulted documents were organized under two more aspects: groups organized by main theme; professional, operational and associated barriers. In the Bibliometric Research, the Knowledge Development Method - Constructivist (ProKnow-C) was used, analyzed in the scientific database Web of Science, published in a Bibliographic Portfolio composed of 80 documents. The analyzes revealed a disparity related to the level of BIM implementation, regardless of nationality, especially for micro-offices and small civil construction companies, and also the importance of the organizational aspect of the offices in this process. It stood out as prominent themes of the last decade and pointed out the common difficulties and barriers in the adoption and implementation of BIM.
