Experiences of Post-Occupancy Evaluation are made increasingly involved in research in the field of Architecture and Urbanism, contributing to the understanding of the experiences and interactions man-built environment. This article emphasizes the consideration of the perceptual and cognitive aspects of the subject-user in a institucional day care of the City of Rio de Janeiro, considering his experience in a place of education. From the application of some Post Occupancy Evaluation tools - observation shared, cognitive map and poem of wishes, it was possible to verify the concepts of value, significance and consequent construction of the place of Yi-Fu Tuan and the concept of responsiveness and environments favored by Henry Sanoff as well. This work will be presented specifically the information obtained using the instruments applied to adults. The results made it possible to identify some important aspects that can impair children's development and educational activities, such as the precariousness of external spaces, the discomfort of the surroundings and the paucity of materials and recreational equipment. The design activities carried out with the adults showed how users can be important tools of dialogue, from the understanding of how this environment is experienced and symbolically perceived by them and even that this experience is imbued with values, feelings, and meanings - apart from being influenced by culture and socio-historical conditions of the users.Downloads
