CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE: APPROACHING COLLECTIVELY PLACE, DESIGN PROXESS AND MATERIALITY

Abstract

This article has as objective to actualize the understanding of place from the notion of collective of Latour and the world vision of actuality and presents the derived attributes of recent transformations that are applied in process of project and in your materiality. In contrast of the space notion, the place notion considers the human experience, turning the physical space, a place of being, with single, particular and qualitative character. Montaner (2001: 44) defines the place of actuality as locals of intense concentration of fluxes, of happenings and transitory, dynamic, heterogeneous facts, crossing ways or of energetic moments. This conception transforms the focus form-function to connections, relations between ambiences that modifies the notions of limit and frontier by the interaction notion and no-delimitation between things, places and people derivatives of the logic of interface. The notion of time present in action, immediate, is the “between” element that makes the materiality of architecture is not a (finality) purpose, but a mediation. The work is based upon in bibliographical researches with emphasis: (a) in the notion of collective of Latour; (b) their implications on the notion of place; (c) speeches of the actuality; (d) architectural designs and recent process; (e) application in materiality. The article tend to contribute with analytical methods of project analyses and design conception considering that the understand of place in actuality and the configuration of architectural space, many times becomes inapprehensible when dissociated of yours actors – people, objects, technological displays, context from the notion of collective of Latour, seldom approached in architecture field, yet.
